LUBBOCK, Texas - The 13th-ranked Texas Tech women's golf team will open the first of three-straight tournaments in the state of Arizona Sunday morning at the Westbrook Spring Invitational held at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria.
The Lady Raiders, who are one of three top-20 programs in the 13-team field, will open the 54-hole tournament with two rounds on Sunday followed by Monday's final 18 holes.
"We're excited to get back on the course at a tournament where we played well last year," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "This tournament will have several top teams in both Arkansas and Washington and we're looking forward to competing against the best. Hopefully we can put ourselves in position to be in contention on Monday."
Tech finished second at the tournament a year ago with an 8-under-par 856 card that marked the program's lowest 54-hole score in school history. Kim Kaufman and Gabby Dominguez tied for second individually as well with a 9-under 207 that also marked the lowest 54-hole score for a Tech player all-time.
The Lady Raiders are off to another strong start to the spring schedule as they finished third just over a week ago at the prestigious Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The finish moved Tech up seven spots to No. 13 in the latest Golfweek rankings.
Kaufman led the Lady Raiders in Puerto Rico as she finished a stroke off the lead in second place. The performance kept the senior ranked No. 1 nationally in the Golfweek rankings.
The tournament is set for a 10:30 a.m. CT shotgun start Sunday morning. Tech fans can keep up with the action throughout the tournament with live stats on www.golfstat.com.
