LUBBOCK, Texas - Jamie Vannoy turned in a two-round total of 153 to finish the first two rounds in ninth place to lead the Red Raiders to a third-place finish after the first day of the 2000 GTE "Mo"morial Invitational in Houston. The 16-team event is hosted by Texas A&M at Pine Forest Country Club.

Baylor leads the event by two strokes over second-place Missouri and three strokes over Tech. Nebraska and Northwestern are tied in the fourth spot.

Vannoy shot a 75 in the opening round and followed with a 78. Jennifer Newhouse shot rounds of 78 and 76 and is in 10th place, while Stephanie Dukes rounds out the top 20 for the Red Raiders in a tie for 18th. Dukes posted rounds of 77 and 79.

Melanie Hunt is in a tie in the 23rd position with a two-round total of 157, while Heather Wrede is tied for 68th after shooting 168.

The final round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
