LUBBOCK, Texas - After an impressive finish at the Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic in February, the Texas Tech women's golf team continues its season this weekend at the LSU-Fairwood Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The tournament kicks off on Friday, March 12 with the opening round beginning at 8:30 am and continues through Sunday.

The LSU-Fairwood Invitational boasts a strong field headed by #2 ranked nationally Duke. Other Top-25 teams participating in the event include: #12 Auburn, #16 Alabama, #21 Memphis and #22 UCLA. Texas Tech is ranked 37th.

Director of Golf Jeff Mitchell is excited about the event, "LSU has been a good tournament for us, we have an opportunity to see how we stand with some highly ranked teams from the east region. I look for Brooke Lowrance to come out strong and am very excited about the recent play of freshman Jennifer Newhouse," he said. Texas Tech won the Fairwood in 1993 and repeated in 1994.

At the Bruin Classic, Tech finished seventh in the 12 team field ahead of then third-ranked Southern California. Four of the six teams that finished ahead of the Red Raiders were ranked in the top 25 nationally.
