Lady Raiders Return to the Desert for MountainView Collegiate
March 22, 2012 LUBBOCK, Texas - Coming off a fourth-place showing last weekend, the Texas Tech women's golf team will return to the desert for its third-straight tournament in the state of Arizona as the Lady Raiders open the MountainView Collegiate Friday in Tucson. Tech has finished among the top five in each of its two trips to Arizona this spring with a second-place showing at the Westbrook Spring Invitational Feb. 26-27 and then last weekend's fourth-place performance at the Notre Dame Clover Cup. This is the third-straight season Tech has participated in the MountainView Collegiate as the Lady Raiders shared the tournament-title in 2010 before finishing sixth last year. The Lady Raiders are the second-highest ranked team in the 15-team field behind No. 23 Oho State and one of four schools in the top 50, joining No. 39 Iowa State and No. 41 Northwestern. In the individual rankings, juniors Gabby Dominguez and Kim Kaufman are once again among the nation's top 50 players with Dominguez coming in No. 42 this week and Kaufman at No. 48. The duo are both averaging a team-best 72.5 strokes per round after posting top-10 finishes last weekend. The 54-hole tournament begins with an 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start Friday morning at the 6,728 yard MountainView Country Club. Tech will play the first two rounds Friday before closing the tournament with the final 18 holes on Saturday morning. TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
