LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Director of Golf Jeff Mitchell announced today that Tamara Munsch (Hays, Kan.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Red Raiders beginning in the 2000 fall season. Munsch is the first signee for Tech for next season.

"Tamara is a great young player," Mitchell said. "She has a lot of state, regional and national success in tournaments. She is very accomplished. Not only is she a fine player, but she is a great student as well. Tamara will be a strong addition to this team. The future of Tech golf is in good hands."

Munsch was named a high school All-American in 1998 and was the Midwest Section PGA Junior Golfer of the Year at Hays High School. She was named to the All-State team after winning the 6-5A State Tournament. Munsch has won 17 of 26 high school tournaments entering this spring and also has won various junior and amateur events. In the Kansas Women's Amateur, she placed first in the junior division and fourth overall.

Munsch is a member of several organizations, including the National Honor Society, Kansas Women's Golf Association, American Junior Golf Association, Northwest Kansas Junior Golf Association and the Texas Winter Golf Tour.
