LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will face its final tune-up prior to the Big 12 Championships this week as the 19th-ranked Lady Raiders tee off the Marsh Landing Invitational Monday morning in Jacksonville, Fla.
The tournament features 36 holes on Monday followed by a final 18 on Tuesday. Tech is the second-highest ranked squad in the 20-team field that also includes No. 11 Purdue as well as Big 12 counterpart Iowa State.
"We're looking forward to getting back on the course this week," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "This will be a challenging field and I think our players see this as an opportunity to post a few low rounds and hopefully be in contention during the final round."
The Lady Raiders, who are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Challenge at Onion Creek a week ago, have already won three tournament titles this year, matching the school record from the 1993-94 season.
Kim Kaufman leads the team with a 71.4 stroke average that is on pace to snap the Tech single-season record of 72.8 that was set by teammate Gabby Dominguez a year ago. Kaufman, who currently ranks 12th in the Golfweek individual poll, has finished in the top 15 of all nine events this year, including seven times in the top five.
She will be joined in the lineup by Dominguez, Hannah Arnold, Elin Arvidsson and Kimmy Hill. Arnold is coming off her best performance of her career as wrapped the Challenge at Onion Creek in a tie for 10th individually.
This is the first time Tech has ever participated in the tournament under Robertson, who has already led the Lady Raiders to seven tournament titles in her three-plus seasons.
The tournament begins with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start Monday morning at the Marsh Landing Country Club. Fans can keep up with the results throughout the day at www.golfstat.com.
