Texas Tech Golfers Honored on Academic All-Big 12 Teams

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech led all conference schools with 10 selections to the Academic All-Big 12 men's and women's golf teams that were announced Tuesday by the league office.

Both teams each had five golfers represented on either the first or second team as the men's squad finished tied with Iowa State for the most overall selections, while the Lady Raiders and Texas shared the league high for most first-team honorees.

On the men's side, Finley Ewing IV, Henry Todd and Nathan Weant earned first-team honors while Matias Dominguez and Clement Sordet picked up second-team accolades.

Gabby Dominguez and Kim Kaufman led the Lady Raiders with their third-straight selection to the first team. They were joined by Hannah Arnold, Elin Arvidsson and Beverly Mendoza on the first team as well.

Kaufman was one of just four conference athletes to be nominated with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, joining Hanna Roos (Kansas State), Madison Pressel (Texas) and Haley Stephens (Texas) on the women's side and then men's golfer Daniel Wood (Kansas State).

First team members consists of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections consist of those with a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher (either cumulative or the two previous semesters) and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
