Women's Golf Signs Hazel Tan to National Letter of Intent
April 11, 2002 LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's golf coach Stacey Totman announced today the signing of Hazel Tan to a National Letter of Intent to attend Texas Tech in the fall of 2002. Tan, a native of Brunei, is the first international women's golfer for the Red Raiders. She comes to Tech from Bradenton, Fla., where she attended Bradenton Academy. "I am really excited about the addition of Hazel to the women's golf program," said Totman. "She has extensive tournament experience both in the U.S. and overseas. Hazel is an exciting player with a passion for the game. She comes from a great program with very strong tradition." Last summer in international tournaments, Tan won the Mercedes Open and the Penaga Open, while finishing in the top five in three other tournaments and in the top 10 in another. In U.S. tournaments, Tan tied for third at the Junior Championship Tour this past February and finished in the top four in four tournaments last year.
"Hazel is an outstanding young lady and has a very bright future at Texas Tech," said Totman.
