NORMAN, Oklahoma - The 42nd-ranked Texas Tech women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic held at the 6013 yard, par 72 Jimmie Austin/University of Oklahoma Golf Course.

The Red Raiders fired a third round score of 311 for a total of 935 for the tournament. Host school Oklahoma University won the event with a total of 923.

Individually, Texas Tech placed three golfers in the top 20. Brooke Lowrance led Tech and tied for 14th overall with a three-round total of 234. Jamie Vannoy and Heather Wrede both finished one stroke behind their teammate and tied for 18th overall. Vannoy came back from an 84 in the second round to shoot 74 on the final day which tied Lowrance for the low round of the tournament amongst the Red Raiders. Beth Covington shot a 237 which placed her in a tie for 26th place. Jennifer Newhouse tied for 40th with a 241. Priscilla Hunt competed as an individual and finished with a 245, tying her for 51st place.

The individual winner was Wendy Martin of Oklahoma. She fired a 219 which topped UTEP's Kristen MacLaren by four strokes.

Texas Tech won the tournament in 1996 and placed second in 1997. Lowrance tied for medalist honors in '96 and was second in '97.

The Red Raiders will be action again on April 19-21 at the Big 12 Championships in Boulder, Colorado. No start time has been announced.
