LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech had five men's and women's golfers recognized on the Academic All-Big 12 teams that were announced by the conference office Wednesday morning.

The Lady Raiders matched the conference high with four first-team selections while Finley Ewing IV (Dallas, Texas; Management) marked the men's team only honoree as a second-team member.

Kim Kaufman (Clark, S.D.; Political Science) led the Lady Raiders' group of selections as she was one of three conference players nominated with a 4.00 grade point average. The junior earned first-team honors for the second-straight year.

She was joined on the first team by fellow juniors Gabby Dominguez (Chilton, Texas; Political Science) and Deborah DeVilla (Quezon City, Philippines; Psychology), marking the pair's second career selection to the first team. Sophomore Beverly Mendoza (Mandaluyong City, Philippines; Internal Economics) rounded out the group as a first-time honoree on the first team.

The Lady Raiders finished tied with Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas for the most overall first-team selections. It marked the second-straight year the women's squad had four first-team honorees.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the women's golf academic squad consisted of 25 first-team members and eight second-team selections. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team is those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
