BOULDER, Colorado - On the same day she was named second team All-Big 12, Texas Tech senior Brooke Lowrance took over the lead at the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship held at the 6166 yard, par 72 Boulder Country Club.

Lowrance fired a one-over-par 73 for two round total of 144 which gives her a three-stroke lead over first round leader Maria Boden of Oklahoma State and Missouri's Jamie Tucker.

As a team, Texas Tech fell to third place but picked up three strokes on leader Oklahoma State after shooting 305 for a two-round total of 606. OSU leads the tournament at 604. Texas A&M moved into second place with a total of 605.

Placing second amongst the Red Raiders and tying for 12th overall was senior Beth Covington. She tallied her second consecutive 76 for a total of 152. Junior Jamie Vannoy and freshman Jennifer Newhouse are tied for 28th place at 156. Junior Heather Wrede subtracted four strokes from her first round score (82), shooting a 78 on the second day of competition, giving her a total of 160 and placing her 48th overall.

The three-day tournament concludes with 18 holes tomorrow, April 21 with the first tee time slated for 8:30 am.
