LUBBOCK, Texas - The West Texas winds dictated the scores on the final day of the 2000 Big 12 Conference Women's Golf Championships at the Lubbock Country Club as Oklahoma moved past second round leaders Oklahoma State and Texas to claim its first Big 12 Conference Championship. Nebraska's 314 was the lowest team score of the day as the 12-team field fought through 25-30 mile per hour winds and 40 mile per hour wind gusts. The Sooners won the event by one stroke over OSU and three stokes over the third-place Huskers. Texas and Missouri tied in fourth place five shots off of the lead. Texas Tech finished sixth, followed by Baylor, Texas A&M, Colorado, Kansas State, Iowa State and Kansas. Missouri's Amelia Moses earned medalist honors after posting rounds of 73, 73 and 77. Her 222 was one shot better than OU's Jennifer James. Moses and James were tied heading into the last hole, but James' approach shot clipped a tree limb and dropped to the fairway, 20 yards short of the green. She bogeyed the hole as Moses took the win. Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and 1999 defending champion Maria Boden of Oklahoma State finished in a sixth-place tie. For Texas Tech, Priscillia Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) shot a three-round 226 to finish in a fourth-place tie with OSU's Emma Zackrisson. Melanie Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Stephanie Dukes (N. Richland Hills, Texas) finished 18th and 19th, respectively. Jamie Vannoy (Sandy, Ore.) and Jennifer Newhouse (Bryan, Texas) finished 25th and 27th.
