April 23, 1998
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech University sophomore Jamie Vannoy, one of three women's golfers in the conference to post a 4.0 grade point average, heads a group of four Red Raiders named to the 1998 Women's Golf Academic All-Big 12 Team.
Vannoy, who tied for first in the Utah-Dixie Classic in early April, joined senior Kristin Kight (Odessa, Texas) and freshman Priscillia Hunt (Phoenix) on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team. Junior Beth Covington (Sonora, Texas) was named to the honorable mention team.
All four Red Raider golfers will be competing in the Big 12 Conference Women's Golf Championships that begins tomorrow in Norman, Okla.
Members of the all-academic team have posted a 3.0 grade point average either cumulative or the previous two academic semesters and are letterwinners on their respective teams. First-team honorees are letterwinners who have at least a 3.2 grade point average, while those student-athletes with GPAs of between 3.0 and 3.19 are named honorable mention.
