The Texas Tech University women's golf team placed four student-athletes on the 1999 Womens Golf Academic All-Big 12 Team.

Senior Beth Covington (General Studies), junior Jamie Vannoy (Advertising), sophomore Priscilla Hunt (Undecided) and freshman Jennifer Newhouse (Undecided) were chosen for the 29-member first-team.

The Red Raiders four first-team selections is tied for the second most in the conference with Colorado. Nebraska has five first-team members.

Vannoy is second for the Red Raiders in scoring average with a 77.3, trailing only Brooke Lowrance (76.8). Her best finish on the year is a tie for sixth at the Diet Coke-Roadrunner Invitational. Covington has 79.8 scoring average and tied for 11th at the Utah-Dixie Classic for her top finish of the season. Hunt's top showing of the season was a tie for 23rd at the Jeanine McHaney Memorial. She owns an 82.1 scoring average. Newhouse boasts a 79.1 average and has a top finish of a tie for 13th at the Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic.

Nominated by the directors of student-athlete support services and the athletic media relations directors, members of the all-academic team have posted at least a 3.2 grade point average either cumulative or the previous two academic semesters and are regulars (letterwinners) on their respective teams. Student-athletes with a grade point average between 3.0-3.19 are listed as honorable mention academic all-conference.

Texas Tech finished third in the Big 12 Conference tournament on Wednesday and will be in action again on May 6-8 at the NCAA West Regional in Houston.
