Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team was one of 21 squads selected to compete in the 2001 NCAA Golf Central Regional, it was announced today. The Red Raiders, who just finished their regular season with an eighth -place finish at the Big 12 Championships, will compete in the event on the Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind. from May 10-12. The regional will be hosted by Purdue University.

Tech was joined in the field by Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma State, New Mexico State, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Kent State, California, Central Florida, Baylor, San Francisco, Florida, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Texas, Purdue, Minnesota, Idaho, Oral Roberts, Princeton

North Carolina will host the East Regional, while Oregon State will host the West. Eight teams and two individuals from non-advancing teams at each of the three regionals will qualify for the NCAA Championships to be played May 23-26 at the Mission Inn Golf & Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Tech tied for 18th at the 2000 NCAA West Regional.
