HOUSTON, Texas - The 42nd-ranked Texas Tech women's golf team finished its season by coming in 18th place at the 1999 NCAA Golf Championship West Regional after shooting a third round score of 317, giving it a total score of 953.

The tournament was held at the 6119 yard, par 72 Pine Forest Country Club. Texas A&M was the host school.

Individually, senior Brooke Lowrance and junior Jamie Vannoy led Texas Tech and tied for 59th place overall at 238. Senior Beth Covington and freshman Jennifer Newhouse tied for 84th, both shot 244 for the event. After shooting rounds of 88 and 85, Newhouse came back with a third round score of one-under-par 71. That was lowest round of the tournament for the Red Raiders. Junior Heather Wrede came in 97th with a 252.

USC won the tournament with a total score of 879. Arizona was second at 890 and Arizona State third at 893.

Arizona's Jenna Daniels was the individual champion, shooting a five-under-par 211. Grace Park of Arizona St. and Angie Yoon of Nevada tied for second at 215.

The top 10 teams and two individuals advance to the NCAA Championships on May 19-22 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, joining the top nine squads and two individuals from the NCAA East Regional.
