LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior>Kim Kaufman was honored for her work both in the classroom and on the course Friday as she was named to the Capital One Academic All-District teams that are presented annually by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The award marks the third-straight year where Kaufman has been a member of the all-district team. She went on to earn All-America honors by the organization last year as well, marking the first time a Lady Raider had ever done so in school history.
By virtue of being named to the all-district team, Kaufman will once again be eligible for the Academic All-America squads that will be announced in the early part of June.
"We couldn't be prouder of what Kim has accomplished both on the course and also in the classroom," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "She is what I would consider a model student-athlete and she has set the bar high for future golfers to come."
The Clark, S.D. wrapped her career as a Lady Raider at the NCAA Central Regional where Tech narrowly missed out on advancing to the NCAA Championships. Kaufman finished the 2012-13 campaign averaging a school record 72.3 strokes per round that was boosted by seven top-five finishes, including one medalist honor at the Landfall Tradition in late October.
Kaufman compiled a 74.0 stroke average over her four-year career, which snapped Rosalyn Kim's previous school record of 76.3 from the 2005-09 seasons. She also set the individual 18-hole and 54-hole records during her career as well while leading Tech to four-straight trips to an NCAA Regional, the longest streak in program history.
On top of her work on the course, Kaufman has compiled a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in political science and is scheduled to graduate with honors this weekend during Texas Tech's Spring Commencement Ceremonies.
A three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Kaufman is among the highest-ranking May graduates for the College of Arts & Sciences and will be recognized during this weekend's ceremonies at the United Spirit Arena.
