Dominguez, Kaufman Become Texas Tech's First All-Americans|
May 26, 2012
LUBBOCK, Texas - Hours after recording the best finish at the NCAA Championships in school history, Gabby Dominguez and Kim Kaufman added to their list of accomplishments late Friday evening as they were both named honorable mention All-Americans by the National Golf Coaches Association.
The selections, which were announced during the NGCA's annual awards banquet, marks the first time any Texas Tech women's golfer has been picked as an All-American in program history.
The duo was among five Big 12 players honored on either the first, second, or honorable mention teams as Tech the only league school with multiple All-American selections and one of only nine nationally.
Kaufman was also honored on the NGCA All-West Region team that was determined based off order of finish at the NCAA West Regional held several weeks ago in Erie, Colo. She is the first Lady Raider named to an all-region team since Rosalyn Kim earned All-East Region honors in 2010.
The two juniors concluded the four-day, 72-hole NCAA Championships tied for eighth with a 3-over 291 final card. It was the highest finish for any Tech golfer at the national tournament, snapping Tracy Thomson's previous record from 1996 when she tied for 39th overall.
