LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's golf coach Stacey Totman announced today the signing of Christine Kovalcik to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Raiders next season. Kovalcik is the second addition to the 2003-04 roster, joining Leslie Wall.

A winner of 10 high school tournaments during her career at New Braunfels (Texas) High School, Kovalcik was named the San Antonio Express-News Player of the Year after finishing eighth at the UIL Class 4A State Tournament in 2003. She also was the District 25-4A and Region 4-4A champion.

Kovalcik was the 1999-2000 District 15-5A Champion and, during the 2000-2001 seasons, was named second-team All-Region and won the Texas State Girls Championship. She also was named to the Express-News All-Area First Team in 2001.

In addition to her accomplishments on the course, Kovalcik has been recognized for her academics. A member of the National Honor Society, she was a four-year Academic All-District and All-Region selection and an Academic All-State selection as a senior.
