LUBBOCK, Texas - Two of Texas Tech's women golfers, Megan Dowdy and Ulrika Van Niekerk, have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar team.

Dowdy has a 3.6 GPA and is majoring in communication studies and with a minor in Spanish. She played in eleven events during the 2008 season and has a season-best second place finish coming at the McHaney/Morehead Invitational.

Van Niekerk played in 12 events and had the lowest stroke average of 76.38 for the 2008 season. She has compiled a 3.8 GPA and is an environmental engineering major.

The NGCA honors student-athletes who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and must have competed in at least 50% of completive rounds during the season.
