LUBBOCK, Texas - Former Texas Tech Red Raider Tracy Stanford playing in her first major tournament on the LPGA tour improved during the second round of the U.S. Open at the very tough Saucon Valley Country Club held in Bethlehem, Pa.

Stanford shot a 14-over 85 improving by one stroke from the day before but failed to make the cut. The rest of the field was fighting the course, as only five players are at par or better.

The Midland, Texas, native carded eight pars during her second round including five of her first six holes. Stanford hit 16 fairways, 11 greens in regulation and had a driving distance of 231.

Cristie Kerr is leading the field with a three-under 139 over the two days.
