Gabby Dominguez recently was named the Texas Tech Female Athlete of the Year.

LUBBOCK, Texas - After a record-setting junior season, Gabby Dominguez was recently named the Texas Tech Female Athlete of the Year in the latest Red Raider Sports magazine.

Dominguez, who was also Tech's nominee for Big 12 Female Athlete of the Year, snapped the school's single-season record with a 72.8 stroke average that was nearly two full swings lower than her previous mark set from her 2009-10 freshman campaign.

The Chilton, Texas native earned an honorable mention All-American selection by both the NGCA and Golfweek Magazine after she and teammate Kim Kaufman tied for eighth at the NCAA Championships in May. Kaufman finished second in the magazine's poll.

Entering her senior season, Dominguez is also on pace to break the Texas Tech career stroke average record of 76.3 that was set by Rosalyn Kim from 2005-09. Dominguez is currently averaging 73.0 swings per round.
