LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's golf head coach JoJo Robertson announced on Wednesday the hiring of Matt Whall as the new women's golf assistant coach.
Whall comes to Tech after spending the last 11 years as a teaching professional in the United Kingdom.
"I am so excited to have Matt Whall join our women's golf program as assistant coach," Robertson said. "Matt has the knowledge and experience to help take our program to new heights. His teaching and coaching background is very impressive and I know that he will do a great job at Texas Tech. Matt and I have very similar goals for our program and I look forward to getting started and working with him."
Whall has spent most of the last decade as a teacher but also was recently part of the England Golf coaching staff for the under-16 Regional Girls squad. He has a PGA Advanced Professional certification and is also a Trackman Level 2 certified instructor and club fitter for many of the top brands.
"I am really excited to join coach Robertson at Texas Tech and aim to help her take this team to new levels, and ultimately win championships," Whall said. "We have an unbelievable set up here and a very talented team so I can not wait to start working with the girls to help them realize their potential as student athletes."
Whall spent time on the England mini professional tours after a successful career as an amateur that led to him turning pro at 18. He graduated from the University of Loughborough in the United Kingdom and spent time learning much of the coaching and teaching aspects of the game from mentor and former Palmer Cup coach for England, David Ridley.
