LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf program announced its 2012-13 tournament schedule Tuesday that features 10 tournaments during the fall and spring leading up to the Big 12 Championships.
"We are very excited about this year's tournament schedule," fourth-year head coach JoJo Robertson said. "Our players have worked really hard to put us in a position to be invited to the top tournaments across the country. We look forward to the challenge of competing against the best teams in the nation."
Coming off its third-straight postseason appearance, Tech will return to eight tournaments from a year ago, beginning Sept. 10-11 at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. The Lady Raiders, who finished fourth at the event in 2011, will be starting the year at the tournament for the sixth-straight season.
Tech will also return to the Windy City Collegiate (Oct. 1-2) in Golf, Ill. and the Suzie Maxwell Berning Classic (Oct. 15-17) in Norman, Okla. before closing the fall at the Landfall Tradition (Oct. 26-28) in Wilmington, N.C.
The Lady Raiders will open the spring with a similar schedule as a year ago with trips to the Lady Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 10-12) in San Juan, the Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 24-25) in Peoria, Ariz., and the Notre Dame Clover Cup (March 8-10) in Mesa, Ariz. Tech has begun the spring in Puerto Rico in each of the past four seasons.
From there, the Lady Raiders will look to defend their tournament titles from a year ago at the Mountain View Collegiate (March 15-16) in Tucson, Ariz. and the Challenge at Onion Creek (April 1-2) in Austin, Texas. Tech won both tournaments by at least four strokes a year ago en route to finishing with the program's most team titles in a single season since the 1995-96 campaign.
The Marsh Landing Invitational (April 8-9) in Jacksonville, Fla. will mark the final tune-up prior to the Big 12 Championships which will be held April 19-21 at The Harvester in Rhodes, Iowa.
The Lady Raiders return five letterwinners, including 2012 All-Americans Gabby Dominguez and Kim Kaufman, from last season's squad that narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA Championships. Robertson has also added freshmen Kimmy Hill (Palm Desert, Calif.) and Victoria Uresti (Anna, Texas) to her seven-player roster for the upcoming season.
