Women's Golf Opens Fall Season At Colorado State
Sept. 13, 2009
LUBBOCK, Texas - JoJo Robertson, who took over the Texas Tech women's golf program in late June, will lead her new troops for the first time on Monday as the squad opens its fall season at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. The Lady Raiders will join 15 other schools in the tournament that is being held at the Ptarmigan Country Club. Texas Tech will be one of three Big 12 Conference schools participating in the event, joining Baylor and Colorado. "I am excited about this weekend being my first tournament with Texas Tech, said head coach JoJo Robertson. " We have had a great couple of weeks with the team and feel like we are ready to get the season started. I couldn't be happier with this group of players with their attitudes and level of commitment that they have shown." Tournament play gets underway with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (CT) on Monday, Sept. 14 with each squad playing 36 continuous holes. The tournament will conclude with another shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday with each team playing only 18. The California Golden Bears are the two-time defending champions of this event (not participating this season) while Colorado finished second in 2008. Texas Tech will be led by senior Rosalyn Kim and junior Alex Gibson. Both Kim and Gibson represented Texas Tech in the Women's Texas Golf Association State Amateur Championships this past summer. Kim advance all the way to the championship match where she fell to Huntsville's Stacy Dennis. Complete results of each round of the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic will be available at www.texastech.com.
