The Lady Raiders participated in the Race for the Cure on Saturday.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's golf team was among the 8,000 participates at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Saturday morning at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

The Lady Raiders braved cold conditions to for the race that featured both 5K and 1K events. Joining the Lady Raiders were the men's and women's basketball teams as well as the baseball program.

"This was a great opportunity for our players to get out and support a great cause," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "I know our players enjoyed participating and this will be something we have marked on our calendars every year."

The event - now in its 18th year - serves as the primary fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research. It is one of several national events held annually by the Komen organization.
