LUBBOCK, Texas - Jamie Vannoy picked up her game on the final day of the Jeannine McHaney Memorial at the Lubbock Country Club to finish in second place and lead Texas Tech to its first team title in the history of the event.

Vannoy posted a final round 73 after shooting 75 and 77 in the first two rounds on Monday. Her three-round 225 was five shots off of tournament champion Linda Chen of Texas-El Paso.

Tech won the event by one stroke over Big 12 rival Oklahoma. Texas-El Paso, Nebraska, Colorado and Colorado State round out the top five. Tech entered the day in fourth place and posted a tournament-best 296 to catapult to the top.

Texas Tech’s Melanie Hunt, playing as an individual, finished third with a 226, while Stephanie Dukes earned her second top 10 finish of the season in a tie for seventh. Jennifer Newhouse (T18), Heather Wrede (T22) and Priscillia Hunt (T25) rounded out the team scoring for Tech. Alana Soliz (T25) and Allison Louth (63) played as individuals.

The win was the first of the season for the Red Raiders, who had previously placed seventh at the Big 12 Preview in Lincoln, Neb., and 12th at the Jones Intercable/Dick McGuire Classic in Albuquerque.
