LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Priscilla Hunt's first-round 77 put her in a tie for 45th, leading the way for the Texas Tech women's golf team at the Stanford/Pepsi Intercollegiate at Stanford, Calif., heading into Saturday's second round.

The Red Raiders shot a team score of 315 in Friday's first round for 18th place, with Tech just nine shots out of ninth place in the tournament.

Tech teammates Jennifer Newhouse and Stephanie Dukes both shot 78 on Friday, putting them in a tie for 54th in the 98-player field. Melanie Hunt, who won the Big 12 Fall Classic in her last outing, opened the tourney with an 82, while Tamara Munsch shot a first-round 84.

The University of Arizona had three golfers under par after Friday's opening round, including tourney leader Lorena Ochoa, who shot six-under and leads teammate Natalie Gulbis by one stroke.

Second round play begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, and final round action starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Stanford University Golf Course on Sunday.
