FOLLOW ARNOLD AT TEXAS STATE AMATEUR

Junior Hannah Arnold begins her first round of the Texas State Amateur Championship at 8:45 a.m. Monday at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.

Arnold is coming off a win last week at the Barton Creek Collegiate Championship on the Texas Collegiate Amateur Tour. She finished at 6-over par (219) to win the event by 10 strokes.

The State Amateur will run Monday through Friday. The low 32 players in the 96-player field will qualify for the Championship Flight after stroke play and will face off in a match play bracket to decide the eventual champion.

ANOTHER TOP 20 FINISH FOR KAUFMAN

Former Texas Tech golfer Kim Kaufman fired an even par 71 in her final round on Sunday at the Credit Union Classic in Syracuse, N.Y. to finish in a tie for 17th place in her sixth Symetra Tour event this summer.

Kaufman finished the tournament 1-over (73-70-71--214) to secure a top 17 finish in each tournament so far this season and move up to ninth on the Symetra Tour Money List. The top 10 players on the money list at the end of the season will earn an automatic player card for next season's LPGA Tour. Kaufman is the only player inside the top 10 that has competed in six events or less.

She will compete three more times this season with the next event Aug. 9-11 at the IOA Golf Classic in Palm Harbor, Fla.

ARVIDSSON PLACES WELL AT EUROPEAN AMATEUR

FINAL RESULTS

Sophomore Elin Arvidsson finished her final round with a 6-over par 77 at the European Ladies Amateur Championship at Aura Golf COurse in Turku, Finland on Saturday.

Arvidsson finished the tournament tied for 36th at 11-over par (72-69-77-77--295).

Next up for the Swedish player is the SM Match Play Championship, July 30-Aug. 3 at Brolista Golf Course in Sweden.

ARVIDSSON NEAR TOP AT EUROPEAN AMATEUR

Sophomore Elin Arvidsson is in a tied for 17th after three rounds at the European Ladies Amateur Championship in Turku, Finland.

Arvidsson entered the third round tied for fifth after shooting 72-69 in her first two rounds before a 6-over 77 on Friday.

The tournament will conclude Saturday.

Arvidsson will move on to the SM Match Championship July 30-Aug. 3 at Brolista Golf Course in Sweden.

ARNOLD WINS BARTON CREEK COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIP

FINAL RESULTS

Junior Hannah Arnold fired a 6-over par 219 to win the Barton Creek Collegiate Championship on the Texas Collegiate Amateur Tour last week.

Arnold carded rounds of 73, 72 and 74 on the 5,660-yard, par 71 Crenshaw Cliff Course at Barton Creek. She had nine birdies and 32 pars to just 11 bogeys and played the the three par fives at 4-under par for the week.

It was the perfect tune-up for Arnold as she begins the Texas State Amateur Championship at The Woodlands Golf Course on July 29.

KAUFMAN MOVES INTO MONEY LIST TOP 10 AFTER FIRST PRO WIN

Former Texas Tech golfer Kim Kaufman moved up to No. 9 on the Symetra Tour money list this week after recording her first professional victory last weekend at the Island Resort Championship held at the Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris, Mich.

In just her third professional event, Kaufman bested Mitsuki Katahira in a one-hole playoff after firing a 4-under-par 68 final round that left her at 3-under for the tournament. The final-round performance was the lowest card of the day and tied for the lowest score of the 54-hole tournament.

The victory pushed Kaufman's earnings to $20,986 this season as she also tied for 10th at the Decatur-Forsyth Classic, her first professional event, and 16th at the Four Winds Invitational. The two-time All-American is the top-earning rookie currently on the tour.

The top 10 players at the conclusion of the Symetra Tour's season in late September will earn LPGA cards for next year. Kaufman is one of just three players currently ranked in the top 20 that have played in fewer than four events so far this season.

Kaufman is scheduled to appear in all seven tour events remaining this season, beginning July 12-14 with the Credit Union Challenge held in Albany, N.Y.

KAUFMAN FINISHES IN TOP 10 IN FIRST SYMETRA TOUR EVENT

Former Texas Tech golfer Kim Kaufman finished tied for ninth in her first professional event Sunday at the Decatur-Forsyth Classic on the Symetra Tour.

The Symetra Tour serves as the mini tour for professional women golfers on their road to the LPGA Tour.

Kaufman fired a 4-under par 68 in her final round on Sunday, improving from a 1-over 73 and 2-under 70 in her first two rounds. She had four birdies and 14 pars in a flawless final round while averaging just 1.44 putts per hole. She did not make a bogey in her final 22 holes of play despite missing seven greens on Sunday.

Kaufman will continue play on the Symetra Tour on Saturday, June 21 at the Four Winds Invitational in South Bend, Ind.

ARVIDSSON IN TOP 20 IN FIRST SWEDISH PRO EVENT

Texas Tech golfer Elin Arvidsson finished with a final round 75on Sunday in her first Swedish professional event on the Nordea Tour, playing as an amateur in the Delsjo Ladies Open.

Arvidsson shot dual 75s in her final two rounds of play after a 79 in her first round at Delsjo Golf Course in Goteborg, Sweden.

"I'm really happy I made the cut," Arividsson said after the tournament. "I know now I won't be as nervous next time in my next professional event and I have a chance to win if I play my best. Of course it was also great to show off my red and black on the course in Sweden!"

Arvidsson will tee it up again June 26-28 at the Frontwalker Ladies Open at Botyrka Golf Course in Sweden.
