Red Raiders Rout Colorado State 6-0 in Home Opener|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 24 Texas Tech soccer team exploded for six goals Sunday at the John Walker Soccer Complex en route to its second consecutive shutout victory to open the 2013 campaign.
In front of a crowd of over 1,500, the Red Raiders routed Colorado State 6-0 as five Texas Tech players found the back of the net. With the victory, Texas Tech improves to 2-0-0 on the season completing the weekend sweep.
"We really had a strong second half," Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "We didn't come out in the first half quite like we wanted, but we came out in the second with a great mentality and really put the game away."
Texas Tech has now won six consecutive home openers outscoring opponents 21-1 during that stretch.
Senior defender Hayley Haagsma recorded her first career multi-goal performance Sunday putting the Red Raiders ahead 2-0 in the 26th minute of play. She went on to score her second goal of the afternoon less than two minutes into the second half of play.
Texas Tech sophomore Caity Heap opened the Red Raider outburst as she scored her first goal of the 2013 season, and the second of her career, in the 21st minute of play off a double-assist from Jessica Disabella and Kansas Bayly.
The Red Raiders went into the halftime break leading the Rams 2-0 before Haagsma's second goal of the day sparked the Red Raider offense which went on to score four goals in the final 45 minutes of play - the most goals by a Texas Tech team in a single half of play since 2011.
Beckie netted her 15th career goal in the 54th minute of play to give the Red Raiders a four goal advantage. It marked her first goal of the season as the Highlands Ranch, Colo. made her 2013 debut Sunday. Disabella followed connecting on her second goal of the year in the 63rd minute before Sorrells put Tech on top 6-0 in the 77th minute of play.
The Red Raider defense allowed just one shot on goal Sunday while freshman goalkeeper Lauren Watson made her Texas Tech debut in front of the net playing the majority of the second half.
Texas Tech continues its season-long five-match homestand Friday at the John Walker Soccer Complex when the Red Raiders host Idaho State with a 7 p.m. first kick.
