Final Stats

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team lost its season opener 2-1 in overtime to TCU at R.P. Fuller Stadium Friday night.

With six and a half minutes left in the first overtime Cara Toulouse headed a corner kick from Tiffany Goetz past Brittney Peese giving the Horn Frogs the 2-1 victory.

The Red Raiders tied the game up in the second stanza on a penalty kick by Kerri Campbell when Jenn Coulson was issued a yellow card in the TCU penalty box.

Carrie Graham led Tech with three shots, all of them coming in the first half. Graham had a chance to give Tech the early lead, but her breakaway attempt was just wide of the net. Campbell and freshman Roxanne Frilot recorded two shots each, Campbell scoring the lone Red Raider goal.

For TCU Crystal Pratz and Rebecca Repaskey each took three shots, with two of Pratz's on goal.

Tech outshot TCU 12-7 in the first half but only mustered two shots to the Horned Frogs nine.

"We worked hard to get the ball, but then we just gave it back to them," stated Tech coach Felix Oskam.

About 14 minutes into the contest Lori Robbins opened the scoring with a goal, assisted by Toulouse, that deflected off the left upright.

With the loss Tech falls to 0-1-0 on the season, while TCU opens the season 1-0-0.

Tech now travels to Fayetteville, Ark. to play the Lady Razorbacks Sunday at Lady'Backs Field for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
