LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 23 Texas Tech soccer team moved to a perfect 3-0-0 on the season with a dominant 3-0 shutout victory over Idaho State Friday night at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
With the victory, the Red Raiders have posted their third consecutive shutout to start the 2013 season.
"Our mentality from kickoff was the best I've seen so far this season," head coach Tom Stone said. "We love playing at home, and they were just excited to put on a show for the crowd."
Texas Tech outshot the Bengals 27-1, with a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal, while receiving goals from Janine Beckie, Maddy Crabtree and Alli Murphy. The Red Raiders have now opened the season with three consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2010.
Texas Tech got on the board first when senior defender Hayley Haagsma sent a long pass across midfield and connected perfectly with Beckie outside the 18-yard box. Beckie cleanly took the feed and beat Idaho State keeper Sheridan Hapsic to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead just 13 minutes into the first half.

McCullough beat a defender then sent the pass to Crabtree inside the six-yard box who punched it past the Bengal keeper.
The Red Raiders went into the halftime break with the 2-0 lead and never looked back as they continued to control possession during the final 45 minutes of play.
Sophomore midfielder Alli Murphy put the finishing touches on night as she connected on her first goal of the season. Murphy beat an Idaho State defender and connected on shot from within the 6-yard box for her second career goal.
