Sept. 1, 2006
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer team got their first loss of the season after falling to No. 21 Purdue, 4-0, in West Lafayette, Ind. The match was part of the Big 12-Big Ten Challenge.
The Red Raiders are now 2-1 on the season, while Purdue improves to 2-1-1.
The Boilermakers got off to a hot start in the match as junior defender Kira Bilecky tallied the opening goal at the 1:56 mark. Purdue would go on to build a 3-0 advantage in the period by adding goals at the 13:25 and 24:17 marks.
In the second half, senior midfielder Rebecca Robison put the Purdue Boilermakers up 4-0 as she scored at the 56:08 mark.
"Purdue deserved to win this evening," said head coach Neil McGuire. "They completely dominated us in the first half physically and tactically. The second half we performed slightly better, but still did not create enough to give Purdue any legitimate problems."
