ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -  The No. 19 Texas Tech soccer team pushed its winning streak to six-straight Sunday with a dominant 2-0 shutout victory over UC Santa Barbara at the Jack in the Box Classic.

The Red Raiders used two second half goals from sophomores Janine Beckie and Alli Murphy to put the finishing touches on a perfect 2-0 weekend while earning their fourth-straight shutout in the process.

"We are excited to have won both and to have shown some real growth as a team in our game today," head coach Tom Stone said. "It gives us confidence that we are almost ready for Big 12 play next week."

With the victory, the Red Raiders move to 9-1-0 on the season and a perfect 5-0 in games away from home. Texas Tech has outscored opponents 12-1 during its current winning streak and will open Big 12 play next weekend against Iowa State in Ames.

In just the 15th minute of play Texas Tech had an early scoring chance when sophomore Caity Heap was awarded a penalty kick. Tech couldn’t capitalize though as her attempt missed off the hand of UC Santa Barbara goalkeeper Beth Ritter.

"Caity took it well, but the UC Santa Barbara goalkeeper was very quick to the ball to push it off the post," Stone said. "We responded well to the minor setback and just kept pushing to get the lead."

After a scoreless first half of play, Beckie scored her 20th career goal on a long blast from 35-yards out. The shot tipped off the hand of a leaping Ritter in front of the goal and sailed into the back of the net giving the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead.

The strike was Beckie's team-leading sixth of the season and marked her third game-winner of the year- which also leads the team.

Fellow sophomore Alli Murphy followed giving the Red Raiders a comfortable 2-0 advantage with a long free kick that bounced over the reach of Ritter in front of the goal. It marked Murphy's second goal in as many matches as she scored in Tech's 3-0 victory over UC Davis on Friday.

In all, four Texas Tech sophomores scored over the weekend. Hannah Devine and Heap joined Murphy in the scoring trio from Friday's victory.

Senior goalkeeper Victoria Esson made three saves on the afternoon to secure her fourth consecutive shutout performance. It marks the longest shutout streak of her decorated career while she becomes the first Texas Tech goalkeeper to shutout four straight opponents since Colleen Pitts did so to open the 2010 season.

Texas Tech held a 13-6 advantage in shots Sunday and a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. Texas Tech opens Big 12 play Friday at Iowa State. First kick is set for 7 p.m. in Ames, Iowa.
