LUBBOCK, Texas - Jessica Fuston scored three goals to lead the Texas Tech women's soccer team on an offensive explosion to beat Northern Arizona 5-0 in front of 737 fans at the John Walker Soccer Complex. The Red Raiders are now 4-0-1 on Sunday's.

"A very good Sunday performance--we had the right attitude from the beginning and move the ball real well in the early going to get UNA on their heels," head coach Tom Stone said. " Madison's burst behind the defense was just what we needed to take the early lead."

Madison Terry started the scoring in the fourth minute of the game as she dribbled past two players to score her third goal of the season.

Fuston's first goal came after Terry again got behind the Northern Arizona's back line and into the box before being taken down by Northern Arizona's goalkeeper en route to goal. The Red Raiders were awarded its first penalty kick of the season. Fuston took the penalty kick and dinked into the left side of the net for her third goal of the season.

Only 43 seconds later, Taylor Narvaiz dribbled down the right side of the pitch and sent a beautiful ball into the box to Fuston who controlled the ball and beat two defenders in one smooth move to her left. After drawing the keeper to her side, Fuston calmly placed her second goal of the game in the far right corner in the box.

Fuston recorded her second-career hat trick after scoring in the 58th minute when Dawn Ward slipped Fuston a short diagonal pass at the top of the 18 which Fuston turned on and fired a back post bent ball to beat the keeper to put Tech up 4-0. Fuston's goal outburst is the second-most goals scored in a match behind Chesea Purser's five against Prairie View A&M in 2006.

The final goal came off a corner kick. Jessica Disabella sent the corner into the box and Casey McCall connected on a header for her first of the season. Stone and McCall had an exchange prior to the corner kick--Stone asked McCall if she wanted to push up and score this and McCall replied: "Yes." McCall being good on her word attacked the back post serve with her head and notched her sixth goal of her career.

The Red Raiders (7-3-1) five goals in a match are the most since UT-San Antonio in 2009. Every single one of Tech's victories has been by way of shutout.
