LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raider soccer team scored a pair of goals in less than a minute deep into the second half en route to a 2-1 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in Big 12 action Friday afternoon.

The Sooners (6-5-0, 1-2 Big 12) scored their only goal in the game's 69th minute, with Logan Womack controlling a ball in the 18-yard box and shooting past the outstretched arms of the Tech keeper.

But the Red Raiders (3-8-0, 1-2) began to attack the net and get quality shots on goal. Ten minutes later freshman Kerri Campbell and junior Marie Valdez played a beautiful game and give-and-go on the far sideline, and Valdez booted a left-footed shot into the upper left corner of the net to knot the score at one.

Fifty-five seconds later Valdez fed junior Carrie Graham in the box, and Graham got one past Oklahoma goalie Jana Cunningham for the game-winner and a 2-1 Tech victory.

"This was a good victory for us," Tech head coach Felix Oskam said. "It wasn't pretty and we were behind at times, but we kept pressuring and kept shooting.

"This game was really a lot like our entire season. We outplayed them and outshot them, but for a while it looked like one goal was going to make the difference. But our kids did a good job coming back and battling and it paid off in the end."

Tech outshot the Sooners, 18-13, in the match, including 13-4 in shots on goal. With the win, the Red Raiders improved to 5-0 all-time in conference home openers.

The Red Raiders continue their homestand Sunday when they host Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. at R.P Fuller Stadium.
