Final Stats

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team was out shot by the Longhorns 36-5 as Texas rolled over the Red Raiders 4-1 before a record crowd of 808 Sunday afternoon at R.P. Fuller Stadium.

Texas (4-3, 2-0) opened the scoring in the 27th minute of play as Kylee Wosnuk's shot, on a pass from Kelly Wilson, took a funny bounce after being partially blocked by Tech keeper Brittney Peese into the goal.

UT took a 2-0 lead into the half after Nicole Breger added a goal in the 41st minute of play as her shot from 23 yards out, off a free kick, was perfectly placed into the upper left-hand corner of the net.

Tech (2-7, 0-2) never really made a run at the Longhorns who held the Red Raiders to just one shot in the first half. Melanie Brosnahan, who took a pass from Erin Srouf and redirected it past Texas goalie Alex Gagarin to the far post, scored the lone goal for Texas Tech.

Kelly McDonald added a pair of goals in the second half capping off the Longhorn scoring in what UT soccer coach Chris Petrucelli called the most complete game his team has played this season. McDonald's first goal came in the 60th minute as she controlled the ball in front of the Tech net, turning and shooting to the near post. She would score again twenty minutes later when she beat Peese one-on-one to the far side.

Tech will resume Big 12 play next weekend as it travels to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
