LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's soccer ended the match against South Dakota State in Brookings, S.D., on Friday night in a double overtime tie, 0-0. Tech will get back into conference play when it travels to Lincoln, Neb., on Sun., Oct. 8, to face Nebraska at noon.

Freshman midfielder Zhaleh Rezaie tallied seven shots in the match. Tech could not get its offense going in the first half recording only four shots against a very difficult wind, but they came out strong in the second half tallying 13 shots. Rezaie led Tech with four shots on goal. South Dakota State tallied four shots on goal as a team for the entire match.

The Red Raiders now stand at 5-7-1 overall with the double overtime tie.

"Despite the score, we actually played quite well," said head coach Neil McGuire. "The wind created an extremely difficult playing environment with 30-35 mile per hour wind gusts making it very almost impossible to play a good brand of soccer. We had chances to win the game, but I also must credit SDSU for the way they played. They are well coached, organized and gave us a very good game this evening. "

Nebraska (6-3-3, 1-2-1 Big 12) will host the Red Raiders on Sunday. The Huskers wrapped up last weekend with a conference tie and loss. Nebraska and Colorado ended in a 1-1 double overtime tie on Friday night. On Sunday, the Huskers fell to Kansas, 1-0. The Huskers are led by senior forward Brittany Timko. Timko earned her eighth goal of the season against Colorado on Sept. 29 and holds 11 program records for Nebraska.

This weekend wraps up four-consecutive road matches for the Red Raiders. Tech will take another break from Big 12 action when it hosts Texas State on Tues., Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. Returning to conference play, Tech will host Oklahoma rivals, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The match against the Sooners is set for Fri., Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. The Cowboys will come to Lubbock on Sun., Oct. 15. The match is slated for 1 p.m.
