LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team returned to R.P. Fuller Stadium after four consecutive matches on the road. The Red Raiders defeated Texas State, 3-0, on Tuesday night. Three freshmen recorded all of the Tech goals.

The Red Raiders tallied 11 shots and the Bobcats recorded four shots, but neither team could score in the first 30 minutes of the match. The first goal came from Tech's freshman Zhaleh Rezaie with an assist by Sarabeth Clopton in the 35th minute. It was the first collegiate goal for Rezaie and the second assist for Clopton. The Red Raiders dominated the Bobcats in the first period with six shots on goal. Texas State recorded one shot on goal the entire period. The Bobcat's goalkeeper Brittany Beltramini collected five saves in the first half. Tech went into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

Tech's offense came out strong in the second half after a goalkeeper change for the Bobcats. Paige Perriraz would come in for Beltramini to finish the match. Perriraz collected three saves off of five shots on goal recorded by Tech. Freshman forward Brittney Harrison would tally her ninth goal of the season at the 73:35 mark to give Tech the 2-0 advantage. Harrison leads Tech in goals (9), points (19) and shots on goals (24). Freshman defender Lauren Martell would record her first collegiate goal in the 80th minute. Martell was unassisted on the goal as she scored on a break away.

All three of the Tech goalkeepers saw playing time against the Bobcats. Freshman goalkeeper Colleen Pitts would relieve Tina Rincon in the second period. Pitts recorded two saves in 6:47. Freshman Amy Lovell came in for the Red Raiders to finish the match. It was Lovell's first collegiate appearance as a goalkeeper.

The Red Raiders improve to 6-8-1 with the 3-0 victory over the Bobcats. Texas State drops to 3-10-2 with the loss. It was the first meeting between Texas Tech and Texas State.

"We are all pleased with the victory tonight," said head coach Neil McGuire. "It was nice to give everyone a chance to play and I feel like we accomplished what we set out to do. The players played with poise and created some really good scoring chances. I was very happy to see both Zhaleh Rezaie and Lauren Martell score their first collegiate goals, as well as Brittney Harrison continuing her goal scoring run."

Texas Tech will return to conference action as they host Oklahoma rivals, the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The match against the Sooners is set for Fri., Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. Oklahoma is 5-8-1 overall and 2-4-1 in conference. On Sun., Oct. 15, Tech will face Oklahoma State. The match is slated for 1 p.m. The Cowgirls are 11-2-1 overall and 6-1 in Big 12 action.
