Red Raider Soccer Still Looking for First Conference Win October 11, 1998 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team, venturing on its final regular season road trip, closed out this past weekend without a win. The Red Raiders came from a 2-0 deficit to tie Texas, 3-3, in Austin on Friday, but lost a 6-0 game to #19 Texas A&M Sunday in College Station. Down 2-0 midway through the second half against Texas, junior forward Kristy Frantz got Tech on the scoreboard with a deflected shot into the goal. Forward Amy Rutstein knotted the game at 2-2 at the 70:33 mark with assists going to Lizzy Biles and Frantz. Texas took the lead at 79:45, but the Red Raiders sent the game into overtime as freshman Jaime Wolff scored her first collegiate goal off a perfect feed from sophomore Jennifer Hamm. During the first overtime period, Tech had a number of chances to seal the game with a victory but could not finish its shots. Sophomore Tech goalkeeper Kellie McCallister made her first start of the season after sustaining an elbow injury prior to the start of the 1998 campaign. On Sunday in College Station, the Red Raiders stayed stride for stride with the 19th-ranked Aggies for the first 30 minutes of the game, but A&M's speed and precision passes put Tech on the defensive for the rest of the contest. A&M shellshocked Tech with three goals within a 12-minute span late in the first half. In the second half, A&M scored an additional three goals between the times of 59:58 and 73:00 for a resounding win.
Texas Tech (3-4-2) plays Kansas on Monday, making up a rain-postponed contest originally scheduled for Oct. 4. Game time is 2 p.m. in Norman, Okla.
