LUBBOCK, Texas - Freshman Megan Knauss (Tigard, Oregon) made eight saves in her second consecutive start, but it was not enough to propel the Red Raiders to a win, as the Texas Tech women's soccer team fell to the Colorado Buffaloes, 2-0, this afternoon at R. P. Fuller Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.

Colorado (7-6-2, 2-3-3 Big 12) held the edge in the first half, as they held a 13-4 shot advantage and out-cornered the Red Raiders by a margin of 4-0. The Buffaloes finally broke through in the 17th minute as Tiffany Booth took a crossing pass from Fran Munnelly and beat Knauss from 15 yards to give Colorado the early 1-0 lead. The Red Raiders battled back in the half by taking four shots and forcing Colorado goalie Sara Erskine to make two saves to preserve the lead for the Buffaloes. Colorado's Shannon Kellogg sent the Buffaloes to the locker room with a 2-0 lead when she took an arching shot from 30 yards that eluded Knauss.

In the second half, the Red Raiders (2-14, 0-8 Big 12) clamped down defensively and allowed the Buffaloes only six shots. Tech turned up the pressure on Colorado and took four shots forcing Sara Erskine to make three saves. Ersikine was shaken up on a collision in front of the Colorado net when she was hit by Tech's Lindsey Wile (Austin, Texas) and was replaced by freshman Jeanne Rankin. Starting defender Jordan Wicker (Euless, Texas) led the Red Raiders with two shots.

Tech will take to the road next weekend to face Northern Iowa in Ceder Falls, Iowa, on Fri., Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. and Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, on Sun., Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. The Red Raiders will close out the regular season when they host the Baylor Bears at R. P. Fuller Stadium on Frid., Nov. 1, at 11 a.m.
