Baylor Snaps Texas Tech's Four Game Winning Streak
WACO, Texas - Baylor snapped the Red Raiders four-game winning streak with their thrid shutout of the season. Baylor defeated Texas Tech 5-0 and improved its record to 5-1-0.
The Lady Bear's offense got off to an early start as sophomore Molly Cameron launced a ball into the right corner of the net at the 6:37 mark, off an assist from sophomore forward Courtney Saunders. Saunders then took a shot at goal and scored off an assist from freshman midfielder from freshman midfielder Lindsay Grant at the 31:06 mark. The Raiders had a chance to get back into the game before the half, a penalty kick taken by sophomore forward Kristy Frantz was caught by Baylor's freshman goalkeeper Dawn Greathouse.
In the second half, Baylor returned to take control of the game with another goal by Cameron off an assist from Saunders at the 53:02 mark. Baylor's sophomore Amanda Banar came into the game to add the last two goals of the game. Banar launched a ball into the left side of the net off of an assist from Molly Cameron at the 76:08 mark. Banar came back at the 84:12 mark to nail a shot off of a pass from freshman Julie Helwege.
The Bears ended the game with a total of 23 shots on goal compared to Texas Tech's 14. Baylor's goalkeeper Dawn Greathouse recorded four saves, the first save coming from the penalty kick in the first half. Texas Tech's goalkeepers Kellie McCallister and Lizzie Pruitt (coming in at the 77:32 mark) recorded a total of six saves.
