LUBBOCK, Texas - Head Coach Tom Stone announced a signing class of 10 players to National Letters of Intent Wednesday. The highly anticipated class will look to make an immediate impact on a program that took significant strides during the 2011 season.

"Throughout this process, as we have gotten to know these players and their families, the words character and commitment and chemistry kept popping up within our staff so, in addition to being a very exciting class of soccer players, it is also a very impressive group of young ladies that we are proud to have representing Texas Tech University in the classroom, the community and on the field." Stone said.

The class includes a group of nine highly-touted players from the state of Texas, along with one of the top players from Colorado in forward Janine Beckie.

The Red Raiders are coming off a fourth place finish in the Big 12 - the highest conference finish in program history. With Wednesday's high-octane class in place, Stone said the program is set to take another stride forward in 2012.

"This is a very exciting class," Stone said. "We filled a specific need in the back and at holding mid but the bulk of the class will be playing on the offensive end. This attacking group will add pace, vision, creative passing and some excellent dribblers to our attack--it's not often you get to add this many dynamic offensive players in one class so we are excited to see them mesh with our current squad."

Head Coach Tom Stone on Janine Beckie
"Janine was a player we targeted two years ago after seeing her lead her youth team, Real Colorado National to the national championships. I think she had six goals at the Regional event in six games and was simply running away from people. Since that time she has had the opportunity to play for the U-18 National Team and has developed her game even further in some key areas. Her REAL Colorado coaches, under DOC Lorne Donaldson, have taken a keen interest in Neener's development and have really helped her game progress to a national team level. Janine loves to run at people and shoots extremely well on the dead sprint--Beckie can make an immediate impact as a freshman and will be an exciting player for our fans to watch for the next four years."

"Ashley is a late addition that we consider a real bonus for this class. We identified her late in the process and were constantly impressed with her athleticism and the ease with which she gets up and down the field. Ashley can serve from the flank well and we expect her to make a very successful transition to the college game once she gets in here and works with our team in preseason. Ashley has worked her way up through the Sting Soccer Club system in Dallas and is hungry for her shot in the Big 12."

"Hannah is a student-athlete that we have been eagerly waiting to add to our squad for quite some time. Very mature off the field and a natural leader on it, Hannah`s ability to dominate the space around her is a rare quality from such a young player. Her club Coach, Don Cameron gave her great range of responsibility on her club team which developed her leadership and all around game. Hannah is terrific in the air and will fit our box midfield system perfectly as a holding type player. When we evaluated Hannah, her winner's mentality and competitive nature continued to jump out at us as something we just had to have in our team. The college game will bring out the best in Hannah Devine and I believe her transition to this level will be very smooth."

It is quite rare to find a freshman with such terrific game savvy on the ball and be this good in front of the goal. Caity has led her Sting '95 team to back to back USYSA National Championships and one ECNL National Championship so her standard for winning is very high and she will bring terrific mentality to our squad. "Alli is the quintessential attacking mid with all the tools. Trained by her uncle Reagan and then by Kim Colin at the D'Feeters SC in Dallas, Alli has been encouraged her whole career to be creative and dynamic on the attack. She is extremely technical and her ball striking is off the charts. Great on set pieces and very dangerous running at defenses. She reminds me of the point guard type you just have to have in big games to control the tempo but also be good enough to win the game for you when you need her to. Our fans will love her skill and mentality on game day and the first time she unleashes this cannon of a shot she has, they will be on their feet."

Her versatility on offense is one of the things we really liked about Katy during the recruiting process. In addition, Katy is very good on the ball in tight spaces and can score herself or create for others. Amongst her best qualities, is the intensity with which Katy approaches the game--she loves to compete and is ready for the challenge of Big 12 soccer."

Head Coach Tom Stone on Briana Rohmer
"Rohmer is a dribbler in the truest sense of the word--she is willing and able to beat players on the run like few youth players we have seen in the last five years. Rohmer's ability to take players on is complimented by her smooth composure when in front of the goal. We made our final decision on her during the Raleigh shootout two years ago after watching her beat four players down the field then dribble the keeper to score...it was not that hard of a decision. Rohmer will unbalance defenses and be able to create all sorts of problems for our opponents and, like the others in this class, has a very competitive nature about her that we love to see in freshmen."

Head Coach Tom Stone on Lauren Watson
"Lauren will join a veteran group of keepers in her freshman year and will be groomed for her opportunity in the nets from day one. Lauren is 5-10 with great range and a fantastic burst off her line when she decides to get to the ball on the ground or out of the air. We see a huge upside with Lauren and her aggressive nature in the net will serve her very well in a college game. When you have a player from the Challenge SC coming into your program, you know you are getting a player who has been tested and pushed to be her very best and we believe that Lauren will bring a maturity and expectation for success with her when she arrives in July."
