Red Raiders Hold Postseason Banquet
Feb. 18, 2013 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer program held its annual postseason banquet this weekend inside the Overton Hotel and Conference Center across from the Tech campus. The evening celebrated the most successful season in school history and recognized a senior class that compiled 45 total wins throughout the previous four seasons. The 2012 Texas Tech soccer team became the first in school history to reach the NCAA Tournament and set a new school record with 16 wins. Meanwhile, a school record four Red Raiders were named to the All-Big 12 First Team, three Red Raiders were selected to the NSCAA All-Central Region Team and freshman Janine Beckie became the program's first-ever All-America selection. Texas Tech advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after hosting North Texas at the John Walker Soccer Complex where the Red Raiders shutout the Mean Green 2-0. The Red Raiders ended the 2012 campaign 9-1 at the John Walker Soccer Complex and averaged over 1,000 fans in attendance for the third consecutive season. Meanwhile, Tech was one of just eight women's college soccer programs to host the NSCAA/FOX Soccer College Game of the week where the Red Raiders shutout Oklahoma State 2-0 in front of a nationally-televised audience. Tech placed 11 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 team while junior Hayley Haagsma was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team.
