FRISCO, Texas - Texas Tech fell to Baylor 2-0 in a physical, highly-anticipated match between the two Big 12 programs at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco Saturday.
Texas Tech drops to 1-2-1 with the loss and will close out its spring slate against Oklahoma State April 19 in Dallas.
"We enjoy this spring game with Baylor because the game always has a big 12 edge to it," Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "Both scoring opportunities came from an assertive Baylor player beating us to the ball. Hopefully that's a spring lesson we won't soon forget."
After an even 30 minutes of play to open the match, junior Erin Inman's clearance was blocked back into the Texas Tech to give Baylor its first goal of the match.
The Bears went on to take a 2-0 advantage when a long cross found its way into the back post.
"In small pieces we were happy with some of the things that are coming together for us," Stone said. "Murphy and Hannah did very well playing out of position and Heap held the ball up top like a pro, but overall there was just not enough quality on the ball to break Baylor down in any consistent fashion."
Texas Tech and Baylor battled to a scoreless draw during the 2013 regular season in Waco, as Tech went unbeaten in conference play.
