HOUSTON - The Texas Tech soccer team moved to 2-0 in spring play Saturday with a 4-2 victory over Rice in Houston.

Three freshmen scored in the contest led by Briana Rohmer who scored twice and added one assist while Alli Murphy and Caity Heap also found the back of the net.

The Red Raiders have now stretched their unbeaten streak to eight straight matches in spring play dating back to 2011.

"I was most pleased with how we responded each time Rice equalized," head coach Tom Stone said. "We showed composure and got the goals back each time."

Rohmer netted the game-winner for the Red Raiders as Tech took a 3-2 lead in the second half before she found the back of the net once again to push the advantage to 4-2.

The Red Raiders and Owls were knotted at 1-1 before Tech took a 2-1 advantage on a Murphy strike heading into the halftime break.

"As the game wore on we looked more and more like ourselves," Stone said.

Rohmer has now scored three goals this spring after netting a goal in the Red Raiders' 3-0 shutout of West Texas A&M to open the 2013 spring season on April 5.

Texas Tech will return to action Sunday when the Red Raider face Lamar at 1 p.m. at the Awty International School in Houston.
