HOUSTON - The Texas Tech soccer team completed a weekend trip to Houston with a 2-0 shutout of Lamar Sunday at the Awty International School.
Sophomore Paige Strahan and freshman Briana Rohmer both found the back of the net in the second of back-to-back victories during the Red Raiders' first road trip of the 2013 spring season. The shutout comes after defeating Rice 4-2 on Saturday.
Tech moves to a perfect 3-0 on the spring season and stretches its unbeaten streak to nine consecutive matches during spring play dating back to 2011.
"Our possession was good despite having played a hard game the day before," head coach Tom Stone said. "We were happy about that. We got in several times during the first half only to be stopped by some excellent goalkeeping by Lamar's keeper. During the second half, the game opened up and we were able to get both goals in transition."
Texas Tech and Lamar entered the halftime break scoreless before Strahan, an All-Big 12 First Team selection during the 2012 season, scored the opening goal off an assist from Rohmer that found her at the back post.
Rohmer then scored her fourth goal of the spring season following a scramble in the box late in the match. The Fort Worth native scored twice during Tech's spring opener against West Texas A&M and the game-winner against Rice Saturday.
Texas Tech will conclude its 2013 spring season April 20 with a showdown against Big 12 rival Baylor in Dallas.
