LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech freshman Janine Beckie was tabbed Friday as one of the top returning forwards in the country by Top Drawer Soccer.

The national publication tabbed Beckie, a 2012 NSCAA All-American and the Big 12 Rookie of the Year, as one of the top-10 returning forwards in college soccer as it announced the position breakdown Friday.

Beckie turned in one of the best freshman campaigns in school history last season scoring 14 goals and tallying five assists as Texas Tech advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She was the second Red Raider in three years to earn Big 12 Rookie of the Year honors while her 14 goals were the most of any player in the conference and the third most among freshmen nationally.

The Highlands Ranch, Colo. native was called up by the U.S. U-20 National Team as she has twice trained with the squad this summer and is currently joining the team on a European Tour for two matches in Sweden.

Beckie is the only underclassman to earn recognition as a top returning forward, and the only player representing the Big 12.

Texas Tech has now had two players featured by Top Drawer Soccer as top-10 returning players in their position as sophomore Jaelene Hinkle was tabbed as one of the top returning defenders.
