LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior defender Jaelene Hinkle is back in training camp this week with the U.S. U-23 National Team for an event running July 15-22 in Seattle.

This is Hinkle's second stint with the U-23 team this offseason as she previously traveled with the squad for the Six Nations Tournament held in Spain this past March. The U.S. claimed the tournament title with Hinkle starting in two of three victories during the event.

Hinkle, a three-time All-Big 12 selection and third team All-American last season, is one of seven defenders training with the U.S. this week on a roster that features several of the top returning collegiate players in the country.

She heads into her 2014 season easily among the most dominant defenders in school history as she was part of a Tech back line that collected a school-record 17 shutouts a year ago. The Tech defense, boosted by Hinkle at left back, ranked second nationally in 2013 for shutout percentage and third for goals-against average.

Hinkle, a native of Denver, Colorado, enters her final season wearing scarlet and black with 15 career assists, which ranks fourth all-time in program history. She led Tech with six assists in 2013 as the Red Raiders set a school record with 18 victories on their way to a second-straight appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
