In a special weeklong series, we take a look back at the top-five moments from the historic 2012 Texas Tech soccer season. The Red Raiders made unprecedented leaps last year, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and breaking the school record for wins. This week, we reflect on the individual moments that made the 2012 season one to remember.

Texas Tech opens the 2013 season Aug. 23 at New Mexico while hosting its home opener Aug. 25 against Colorado State. The Red Raiders return eight starters and two All-Big 12 First Team selections from the 2012 team that went 16-6-1.

Sept. 14, 2012 - Texas Tech vs. No. 20 Long Beach State (Cal State Fullerton Under Armour Invitational)

FULLERTON, Calif. In the midst of a five-match road trip, the Red Raiders opened the 2012 Cal State Fullerton Under Armour Invitational with perhaps the most thrilling match of the season.

Tech's sensational freshman and eventual All-American Janine Beckie netted the game-winning goal with just 31 seconds remaining in double overtime giving the Red Raiders a dramatic Friday night victory over No. 20 Long Beach State on a steaming hot evening in Fullerton, Calif. Long Beach State entered the weekend as one of the top squads in the country as the 49'ers appeared in the top-five of the NCAA RPI rankings, but Tech made noise across the tournament field with the 3-2 victory.

Beckie's game-winner was the second of the night sealing her first career multi-goal performance. The Highlands Ranch, Colo. native tied the match in the 85th minute off an assist from senior defender Morgan Johnson.

Tech went on the defeat host Cal State Fullerton 2-1 Sunday to capture the tournament title.
